Set in the 1950’s, Eilis (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish woman emigrates to New York for better prospects. Initially she misses home but gradually she adapts to her new lifestyle helped considerably by her landlady Mrs Kehoe (Julie Walters) and her pastoral guide Father Flood (Jim Broadbent). In the course of studying she meets Tony (Emory Cohen) a fellow Italian immigrant
and develops an emotional attachment leading to a secret marriage. She soon has to return to Ireland to support her mother, but her intention is to return to her husband in Brooklyn. However time is running out.

Membership and Tickets

Memberships cost just £10 for the whole of the 2024-25 season!
Tickets for each film in the 2024-25 season are available to buy in person at Chester Picturehouse. The cost per film is £5 for film society members and £10 for non-members/guests.
