Rachel Weisz gives a performance of heart-rending vulnerability as Hesther Collyer, the wife of a High Court judge. Suffocating and unfulfilled in her marriage she embarks on a reckless love affair with a young RAF pilot (Tom Huddleston).

Terence Davies adaptation of Terence Rattigan’s stage play beautifully evokes the atmosphere of 1950’s London while focusing on the manners and moral dilemmas of the time.
